Glutazene is classified as a drug to enhance the Direct-healing
factor of the ulcer.
Composition:
Each sachet of Glutazene granules 0.67 gm - contain
soluble Azulene (Sodium Azulene Sulfonate) JPC-2.0 mg and
L-Glutamine-663.30 mg.
Water soluble Azulene is a dark blue scaly like crystals
without taste and has slight smell.
L-Glutamine is a white crystal or crystalline powder without
taste or odor and is soluble in water.
Description:
It is
a light blue granule with sweet taste.
Action:
Azulene has been demonstrated to have the pharmacological
activities such as anti-inflammatory, inhibitory action on histamine
and anti-pepsin activity.
Azulene suppresses inflammation caused by various inflammatory
mediators and its anti-inflammatory action is long lasting.
Azulene acts directly on the inflammatory gastric mucosa and
cures gastritis. It is also effective in ulcers complicated
with gastritis.
Azulene inhibits histamine release through a local direct
action on the cells without activating the pituitary-adrenal
system.
Azulene has a stimulatory action on granulation and
epithelium formation in addition to anti-inflammatory action.
These actions are responsible for the cure of gastritis and
peptic ulcer.
Indications:
Gastric ulcers, Duodenal ulcers, Acute and Chronic gastritis,
NSAID induced gastritis and Erosive gastritis.
Dosage and Administration:
The usual daily dose is 1.5 to 2.0 gm given in three divided
doses. 1 sachet three times a day after meals usually given
for 6-8 weeks. It can be altered depending upon the age and
the condition of the patient.
User Guidelines:
Take a sachet and open it by tearing it at the cut mark.
Empty the entire contents of the sachet into the mouth and
drink a little water.
Add the entire contents of the sachet in a quarter glass
of water and stir till it completely dissolves and turns purple
and then drink.
Side effects:
The drug is normally well tolerated. However, instances of
Nausea vomiting, Constipation, Abdominal pain, Gastric discomfort
have been reported. The drug may rarely cause facial flushing.
Drug Interactions:
None reported.
Precautions:
The drug is to be kept protected from direct light and
moisture.
Contraindication:
Contra indicated in children.
